Now we are facing a serious crisis as if this nurse spread the virus to colleagues and IDP residents, the prediction of 39,000 infected people in Nigeria could easily materialise. About half of Borno State’s population is in Maiduguri, so the concept of social distancing is totally alien to then.
I guess the only good thing is that if the virus hits home, it will also afflict Boko Haram insurgents too. For now, the only thing going for Nigeria is that the virus appears to be unable to withstand the tropical heat.
Personally, I am not panicking as the combination of the tropical heat and the fact that we will son have a vaccine will prevent the widespread loss of life. For me, the bigger danger is the economic impact of this pandemic.
