Com. Ayoade Kikiowo, National Association of Ondo State President has implored students to avail themselves to the new education programme initiated by the Ondo State Government.
Com. Kikiowo made this call yesterday, following the release of the schedule by the State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu on Twitter.
The initiative is a joint-child idea of the Ondo State Ministry of Education led by Mr Femi Agagu and broadcast stations. It is aimed at covering the gaps created by the closure of schools due to the Coronavirus pandemic and will witness radio and television broadcasts of tutorials in the state.
The pilot phase which was released by Arakunrin Akeredolu will feature subjects on four different sessions on OSRC and two sessions on Orange FM, according to the schedule.
Com. Kikiowo described the Government initiative as laudable stating that it was the thing to do as some other southwestern states had done.
He further disclosed that the Association will be supporting the Government in its effort to ensuring that students do not suffer from the unavoidable lockdown.
Earlier, Com. Kikiowo in a press release revealed that the Association will be corroborating the efforts of the State Government through a complementary initiative “Learn From Home”.
“Learn From Home will not replace or tarnish the efforts of the Ondo State Government but complement it,” the President stated.
He explained that the complementary initiative will document the radio and TV tutorials and make them available to students even after the broadcasts.
He added that the Association will “create platforms for academic interaction between teachers and students to further entrench the objectives set by the State Government.”
